How to Witness God’s Power in Your Daily Life

The word “awesome” has lost a lot of its power. When a great musical performance or good news about a job offer can be referred to as “awesome,” it downgrades the actual meaning. Dictionary.com defines “awesome” as “inspiring an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, or fear.” How often do you think about God’s power in relation to the word “awesome”? Everything He does in our lives and in the world speaks to us of His power. 

Understanding God’s Power through Scripture 

Every life experience has a biblical parallel, a verse that resonates with the essence of existence. As we dive into stories, proverbs, psalms, and parables, we start to peel back layers of God’s power, turning the ordinary into something profound. Here are three verses that describe God’s power. 

  • Ephesians 3:20 (NIV): “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” 

This verse extends an invitation to witness the sheer greatness of God’s power—a power not limited to time and space. In every prayer offered up, in every dream we hold close to our hearts, we’re making a connection with God. We’re believing His ability to do it, and trusting His heart to know what’s best for us. 

  • Isaiah 40:28-31 (NIV): “Do you not know?  Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” 

God’s power is beyond comprehension. He never gives up on us. He is always there giving strength to those who are tired and lifting up those who are beaten down. It’s the force behind life, a constant flow of renewing grace.  

  • Psalm 46:1-3 (NIV): “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” 

In this verse, we find a gentle reminder of God’s unwavering support and protection amidst life’s storms. It speaks to the heart, assuring us that even when the ground beneath us seems to crumble and the challenges appear insurmountable, God’s presence is a sanctuary of peace and strength. Here lies the hopeful promise that, no matter what we face, we are never alone. God is always beside us, providing the courage we need to persevere.

Witnessing God’s Power Today 

While these verses echo God’s strength, it is through our words and actions that we truly understand how He works in our lives. Here are some ways you can witness God’s power. 

  • Acknowledging The Healing Hand of God: Testimonies of miraculous healings are like a wake-up call. They show us that God’s power isn’t just something from the past—it’s alive and active today. Whether someone’s dealing with a physical, mental, or emotional struggle, these stories of change guide many people back to a place of healing and wholeness in God. 
  • Nurturing the Garden of God’s Power: Growing a strong faith is like tending to a garden. It needs regular care and attention to stay open to those gentle nudges from God’s Spirit. By sticking to spiritual routines and commitments, we’re essentially nurturing our faith garden. Over time, this care will show results, proving that God’s power is actively and vibrantly working in our lives. 
  • Meditating and Praying Daily: Set aside dedicated moments each day for prayer and meditation—the language of faith. Through these routines, silence speaks volumes, and deep inside our hearts, we find God’s Word alive and resonating with strength. This is where testimonies are made, where everyday life becomes something truly miraculous. 
  • Worshiping Consistently: Consistency in worship attunes our spirits to God’s constant presence. Whether we’re singing together with others or having personal moments of devotion, these actions weave our days with God’s presence.
