Feeling lost in guilt and shame? Wondering if you’ve strayed too far from God’s grace? Breathe. You are not condemned. In Romans 8:1-2, the Apostle Paul writes:
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”

In Galatians 3:13 the Paul reminds us that Christ rescued us from the law’s curse when He became a curse in our place. Jesus took our place. Second Corinthians 5:17 reminds us that since we are in Christ, we are a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. Ask God to help you see yourself in that mirror. With His eyes. New, fresh, revived, healed. Sin no longer defines you. Pray for peace and the freedom promised by God’s word. Choose a word symbolizing your new life in Christ—a constant reminder of this liberating truth.
You are worthy of God’s love. Imagine standing before God. Yes, you’ve sinned, yet Jesus shields you with His blood. It’s like being in a courtroom where the jury just returned a guilty verdict. You stand accused and condemned, but Jesus stands before the judge in your place and tells that judge, “The price has already been paid.”
No bailiff comes forward to take you to your cell. Instead, Jesus removes your shackles, embraces you with fierce love, and walks out the door of that courtroom with you. No one can every condemn you again because Jesus paid for all your sins past, present and future. Thanks be to God!
Dear gracious and merciful God, help me know the peace You promise. Help me embrace the truth that there is no condemnation, no guilty verdict, no punishment for me when I believe in Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. Help me embrace the truth that the law of the Spirit of life which is in Christ Jesus—the law of my new being—has set me free from the law of sin and of death. And it is in this truth and promise that I pray, in Your Holy Name, Amen.
