Happy New Year! I’m old enough to remember when Y2K was a thing, and here we are almost a quarter century later. Time really does fly. Let’s start out January with a prayer for the new year.
Dear Lord, You are timeless, but we humans are bound to time. And so we step onto a fresh path of a new year. Thank You for walking with me. The past year was like most every year: there were highs and lows, sometimes on the same day! But through it all, You have been there. And I am grateful.
As I enter this new year, I ask that You would give me eyes to see people are circumstances the way You do. Help me to have compassion in a way I haven’t experienced before. I can have my resolutions, but Lord, I admit that I am weak. I can’t accomplish any of it on my own.
Adventure awaits if I’m willing to step out in faith. Help me to seek You in every circumstance and to trust that You have my best in mind in all things. You can be fully trusted because you have always been faithful. May I learn that in an even clearer way this year.
May this year be filled with blessings, even ones in disguise. Let me see where You are working in the world around me so that I might join You in that work. Take my eyes off myself and place them firmly on Jesus. It’s in His name that I pray, amen.
