In Luke 6:38, Jesus challenges us to live the abundant life—a life marked by lavish giving and overflowing grace. It’s a daring invitation to embrace the extravagant mercy God has shown us and to extend that same grace to others:

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Luke 6:38, English Standard Version

Living the abundant life requires us to break free from the shackles of a critical and prideful spirit that seeks to confine us. When we open our hearts to give generously, we unlock the fullness of God’s blessings in our lives. His forgiveness knows no end, His love knows no limits, and His power to transform us is boundless.

Yet, there may be moments of hesitation, moments when fear whispers that we might give too much, that we might be taken advantage of. But true abundance is found in choosing forgiveness over judgment, in daring to extend grace even when it feels risky.

As we dare to live the abundant life, giving grace lavishly, we witness the principle of sowing and reaping in action. God surprises us with unexpected blessings, pouring out His provision in ways we could never imagine. It’s a reminder of His faithfulness and generosity, prompting us to trust Him more deeply.

But Jesus doesn’t just call us to give; He calls us to examine our own hearts before passing judgment on others. True humility enables us to see our own faults clearly, empowering us to extend grace and forgiveness to those around us.

So, dare to live the abundant life. Dare to give grace generously, forgive extravagantly, and love boundlessly. For in daring to live abundantly, we discover the true richness of God’s grace poured out upon us.

Father God, I want to live a generous life. I want to live abundantly. I especially want to experience abundant grace. Help me to see the connection. Help me to see what grace has been given to me so that I can lavish it on others. I need Your help. And I ask for it in Jesus’ name. Amen.
